KARACHI - Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi Abu Bakar Mamat has invited the members of the KCCI to participate in Intrade Malaysia 2014 exhibition which is scheduled to be organised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 20th to 22nd October 2014. Speaking at a meeting during his visit to Karachi Chamber, Malaysian Consul General informed that International Trade Malaysia (Intrade) is the annual international trade and export exhibition organised by The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) to enhance networking, business matching, exchange of ideas and knowledge amongst the business communities from different countries, especially those seeking to venture into the global market.
This exhibition will provide a perfect opportunity to Pakistani business community to examine Malaysian goods, improve business linkages with their Malaysian counterparts and explore ways and means of how to further enhance trade between the two countries, he added.
Commenting on bilateral trade between the two countries, the Malaysia Consul General pointed out that 95 percent export share of Malaysian palm oil exports to Pakistan has declined to 55 percent. In this regard, he requested the Pakistani and Malaysian businessmen to enhance interaction with each other in order to identify issues and give suggestions on how to further improve trade between the two countries.
Speaking on the occasion Abdullah Zaki, President KCCI stressed the need to creating strong linkages between the universities in Pakistan and Malaysia with a view to promote education. In this regard, Pakistani students should also be facilitated to study in Malaysia.
Mazlan Harun, Trade Commissioner, Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation, and KCCI Managing Committee members were also present at the meeting.
