ISLAMABAD - Pakistan’s textile exports have shown growth of 7.81 per cent in one year, as it recorded at $5.400 billion during July-November period of the current fiscal year 2012-13 as against $5.009 billion of the same period of last year, revealed the figures of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Thursday.
According to PBS figures, country’s textile commodities exports have shown growth of 7.81 per cent during the first five months of current fiscal year 2012-13 against the same period last year. Pakistan has exported textile made commodities worth of $ 5.4 billion in July-November period of 2012-13 as compare to $5.009 billion of July-November 2011-12. Meanwhile, the textile exports have registered handsome growth of over 23 per cent in November 2012, as it recorded at $1.009 billion compare to $0.816 billion of the same period last year.
According to figures, the product-wise details showed that raw cotton exports went down by 44.35 per cent in July-November period of the ongoing fiscal year, cotton yarn exports increased by 38 per cent, cotton cloth 12.31 per cent, cotton carded exports declined by 86 per cent, yarn exports went up by 62.73 per cent, knitwear exports reduced by 2.02 per cent, bed wear exports decreased by 9.61 per cent, towels exports enhanced by 10.98 per cent, tents 25.49 per cent, readymade garments 14.26 per cent, art silk and synthetic textile exports reduced by 18.10 per cent, made-up articles were down by 2.14 per cent and other textile materials exports increased by 70 per cent in July-November period of 2012-13 against the July-November2011-12 period, said the PBS data.
Meanwhile, the figures revealed that the country’s food exports also registered an increased of 2.35 per cent in July-November period of the year 2012-13.
The break-up of food group exports revealed that rice exports went down by 14.73 per cent in the period under review, fish exports went up by 0.57 per cent, fruits 4.50 per cent, vegetables 34.11 per cent, pulses exports reduced by 47.21 per cent, tobacco exports reduced by 28.49 per cent, wheat exports declined by 62.70 per cent, spices exports increased by 19.30 per cent, oil seeds export increased by 33.15 per cent, sugar 100 per cent, meat 42.08 per cent and all other food items export reduced by 13.09 per cent in the period under review. Meanwhile, in other manufactures group, exports of carpets, rugs and mats decreased by 1.79 per cent, sports goods exports increased by 0.17 per cent and leather exports went up by 3.78 per cent.
Similarly, the engineering goods exports declined by over 50 per cent, surgical goods and medical instruments exports also went up down 9 per cent in July-November period of the current fiscal year against the same period last year. It is worth mentioning here that Pakistan’s overall exports have recorded at $10.081 billion during July-November period of the 2012-13 as compare to $ 9.348 billion of July-November period of 2011-12.
