PR to get 202 new coaches soon: Bilour

ISLAMABAD  – Federal minister for Railways Ghulam Ahmed Bilour on Sunday informed that his department would soon run 202 newly-purchased coaches from China.
Talking to INP, the minister opined that if the ministry of finance had released the required Rs11 billion bail-out package in the earlier, the department would not have drawn the public ire.
About steps for improving the services, he replied, the maiden public-private partnership run business express train service from Lahore to Karachi, would be inaugurated on February 3.
“It will generate around one billion rupees revenue for the department and with inauguration of such services, the PR would be able to reduce Rs40 billion overdraft of State Bank,” he added.
Bilour informed that Four Brother Company would provide Rs 220 million per annum for the repair which would be carried out in Lahore Railways workshop.
He said that they had succeeded in running 25 goods trains which would help the department to become functional.
