SAARC chambers meeting today

LAHORE  – The 17th general assembly meeting of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) will be held in New Delhi on Monday (today).
A 100-member private sector delegation of Pakistan has reached India to participate in it. Before departure at Lahore airport, the leader of the delegation, VP SAARC CCI Pakistan chapter, Iftikhar Ali Malik said the forthcoming 53rd session of executive committee and the 17th general assembly meeting would be chaired by outgoing SCCI President Annis-ul-Haq from Bangladesh.
In traditional rotation, the top slot of the SCCI will go to India and Vikramjit Singh Sahney, corporate president of Sun International and member national executive committee of the Federation of India Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will take over as new SCCI Chief for a two-year term during the inaugural session. He said the first time, young entrepreneurs, businesswomen and traders from all chambers across the country representing  various sectors had been included in the delegation to hold  discussion with their counterparts.  He said that FICCI and SCCI had organised a “Business Summit; building bridges in South Asia through Economic Co-operation”.
The leader of the Pak delegation will also chair one session of the seminar on “Human Resources Development in
South Asia” to be held on Jan 23 at New Delhi.
Iftikhar Ali Malik said that on the sidelines, members of
the Pak delegation would also hold a series of important
meetings with delegations from all member countries to work
out modalities to promote bilateral trade.
