Petrol and CNG pumps dealers threaten closure

KARACHI - All Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Foundation (APVPDF) has threatened to close petrol and CNG pumps across the country if their genuine demands were not accepted by the government. The APVPDF meeting, presided by its Chairman Syed Zia Abbas here, demanded 6 per cent commission of petrol retail price and reducing advance withholding tax from 10pc to 5pc. He mentioned that the illegal pumps in the country were selling smuggled oil and petrol at cheap price without paying government tax, thereby, depriving the national exchequer of revenue. Regarding CNG price formula of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to be considered by Cabinet Committee, Zia Abbas contended that CNG pumps dealers should be allowed to fix price and not the OGRA. He said that since CNG save foreign exchange by not importing fuel, therefore, they are the manufacturers and contribute to national economy. He said the govt, while considering CNG price formula, should also consider cost of maintenance and difference born by CNG pumps and include franchise to oil marketing companies to ensure justice in determining price.
