Post Office Dept shifts international mail office
LAHORE (PR): Pakistan Post Office Department, in collaboration with ECMC Pakistan Pvt Ltd, has shifted the International Mail Office from Lahore GPO to Allama Iqbal International Airport, Cargo Complex Lahore. The inauguration ceremony was held on Friday. Pakistan Post has taken this step in accordance with international security standards of European Union and Universal Postal Union.
Chief guest Molana Abdul Ghafoor Haidari, Minister of State for Postal Services, inaugurated the newly built state-of-the-art building. The state minister on this occasion announced that this arrangement will provide efficient international postal services to the public.

Latif Kapadia Memorial Welfare Trust holds fundraiser
KARACHI (PR): An exclusive pre-launch performance of Anwar Maqsood’s play ‘Dharna’ was held at Arts Council, Karachi to raise funds for the Latif Kapadia Memorial Welfare Trust (LKMWT) – an NGO dedicated to the cause of education and healthcare for the under-privileged sector. The funds generated from ticket proceeds will be utilized in serving the society with greater fervor.
Dedicating the evening to Latif Kapadia, Anwar Maqsood said, “Latif Kapadia was a dear friend of mine and we used to talk about starting a Trust together. I am pleased to see his desire take form and the Latif Kapadia Memorial Welfare Trust is doing a commendable job. I would like to request everyone to support this organization in their efforts to help underprivileged people in our country.”
Produced and directed by KopyKats productions and having travelled through Lahore and Islamabad before finally arriving in Karachi, the play was a resounding success, with a full house and continuous laughter echoing throughout the auditorium. Highlighting today’s political scenario as depicted through Pakistani talk shows, it struck the right chord with the audience who all walked out raving about Anwar Maqsood’s scriptwriting genius. Performances will continue every evening at the Arts Council, Karachi until February, 2015.

Metro Pakistan hosts int’l workshop
ISLAMABAD (PR): An observational trip of National Productivity Organization (NPO), Ministry of Industries & Production in collaboration with Asian Productivity Organization (APO) was organised at METRO Pakistan Capital Store Islamabad, in perspective of International Training Course on “Food Safety & Quality Standards for Market Access.
International participants from 18 member countries including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Republic of China, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Iran, Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, & Vietnam as well as 3 international resource persons along with 10 local participants took part in the training.  
METRO Pakistan was requested by NPO for this field visit for the international delegates considering it to be an excellent example of retail food chain which is providing easy access of diverse, safe & good quality food to local people.
On this occasion Pervaiz Akhtar, Director Corporate Affairs & Company Secretary & Muhammad Ahmed, Head of Quality Assurance from METRO Pakistan, gave presentations on METRO’s introduction and FSQ standards being practiced in the organization. Also it included our supplier development initiatives and sustainable quality standards as per METRO’s global standards.
Main objective of this visit was to enhance participants understanding of the structures & effectiveness of public & private food safety & quality (FSQ) standards prevailing in food world & agricultural markets. It also became a medium to acquaint participants with the requirements of selected private FSQ standards and to familiarize them with the issues and challenges faced by small & medium-sized farms and enterprises in agricultural and food industry.

TDAP launches ‘GSP Plus Business Guide’
KARACHI (PR): Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) in collaboration with Ministry of Commerce organized a seminar on GSP+ and launched book “GSP Plus Business Guide” at a local hotel. Engr Khurram Dastagir Khan, Federal Minster for Commerce, Lars Gunner Wigemark, Ambassador of EU and Barrister Zafarullah Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, S M Muneer, Chief Executive TDAP, Rabiya Javeri Agha, Secretary TDAP and other distinguished guests were present on the occasion.
The Business Guide has been prepared by Pakistan Institute of Trade and Development, EU TrTA program, International Trade Center (ITC) and UNIDO. This has also been translated in to Urdu.

Islamic financial system can strengthen economic base
PESHAWAR (Staff Reporter): The Islamic financial system can strengthen our economic base and then our dreams of social development can be fulfilled, this was stated by Muzaffar Said Minister for Finance Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said this while addressing a gathering held after inaugurating The Bank of Khyber (BOK) Raast Islamic Banking Branch at Sirki Road Quetta.  
He said that Islam is a complete code of life and due to our short coming we are facing problems in our daily life, if we all seriously act upon Islamic teachings in each field of daily life our lot of problems can be solved automatically.
He mentioned this is in our best interest that we should adopt the Islamic banking system as this will feel us very comfortable in our financial matters alternatively we will get the fruits of prosperity. Muzaffar Said mentioned the BOK is playing its vital in socio-economic developmental activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa specially and rest in the country providing financial assistance to the business & trading community for the betterment of the economic sector.
The event was also attended by Shams-ul-Qayyum Managing Director BOK, apart from BOK Group Head Operations Shabeer Sheikh, Group Head Islamic Banking Muhammad Asad, BOK Principal Shariah Advisor Qazi Abdul Samad, Area Chief for Sindh & Baluchistan Syed Akhtar Ali Shah, Head Business Development Islamic Muhammad Naveed Qureshi & Head Marketing Syed Ali Nawaz Gilani.
