Literary event at Beaconhouse DHA Campus

KARACHI (PR): The Beaconhouse School System held a one of its kind literary evening at its DHA Campus. The evening was themed, Our Writers Our Heros – Hamaray Adeeb Hamaray Hero. The audience was a keen set of O’ Level & A’ Level students of The Beaconhouse Southern Region.
The event was organized to discuss the challenges faced by Urdu and its fast losing young audience and the reasons behind the same. The purpose of this event manifold; to broaden our students’ reading interests, introduce Urdu writers and poets, listen to and admire good literature and poetry being read, and last but not least, to interact with and be inspired by our own indigenous names.
The panel comprised of current renowned Urdu Literary figures; Zehra Nigah, Fehmida Riaz, Attiya Dawood & businessman cum Urdu enthusiast Wajid Jawwad.  The topic of the discussion was:
Has Urdu literature kept up with the changing times-especially for our young adult readers?
Besides the panel discussion, there were dramatic rehearsed readings in Urdu by “Zanbeel”.
Students of Beaconhouse: Shehreyar Ahmed & Maryam Ali performed Ghazals & Piano Recitals respectively.
