LAHORE (APP) - Punjab Government purchased 57.81 lac metric tons wheat during previous year out of which 25 lac metric tons wheat was purchased for the federal government and stored in the godowns of Punjab Food Department. A spokesman of the Food Department here on Thursday said that the federal government has to pay Rs 11.250 billion in the expenditure head out of which 9.295 billion rupees have been paid to the Punjab government while the federal govt has allocated funds for the payment of remaining amount in the budget. The remaining amount would be paid as soon as possible by the federal government, he added. He apprised that other provinces have also paid the amount of wheat to the Punjab government purchased by them from the food department during the past years. However, some departmental amount is disputed in respect of markup and gunny bags which would be solved as earliest, he added. The spokesman said that the food department Punjab issuing wheat to the flour mills at the 1000 rupees per 40 kg and each bag of 20 kg flour available in the market at Rs 565 to 575.
