LAHORE
The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Friday signed an agreement with Power Construction Corporation of China for construction of 132 kilo volt (KV) transmission line from Duber Khwar Hydel Power Station to Dasu for providing uninterrupted power supply to facilitate the construction of Dasu Hydropower Project.
The contract worth Rs.1.583 billion includes procurement, design, supply, installation, stringing, testing and commissioning of 132KV single circuit transmission line from Duber Khwar to Dasu and 132 KV Grid Station at Dasu. The transmission line and the grid station are scheduled to be completed in about eight months. The contract was signed between WAPDA and Power Construction Corporation of China in a ceremony held here at WAPDA House. General Manager and Project Director Dasu Hydropower Project Haji Muhammad Farooq and Business Development Manager of Power Construction Corporation China Liu Zhong signed the agreement on behalf of their organisations.
Chairman WAPDA Zafar Mahmood, Member (Water) Muhammad Shoaib Iqbal, Member (Power) Badrul Munir Murtiza, Member (Finance) Anwar-ul-Haq and other officers concerned were also present in the ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, WAPDA Chairman said that it is all the more important that the transmission line is completed according to schedule, so that the required quantum of electricity is made available when civil works of Dasu Hydropower Project start as well as to the local villages.
He expressed the hope that the contractor will keep the timelines of the contract in view and complete it within stipulated time, cost and standards.  In addition to facilitate construction of Dasu Hydropower Project, WAPDA  will also use the transmission line and the grid station to provide electricity to the local people as its social corporate responsibility to improve the life style of the people living in those far-flung areas, he further said. The contractor assured WAPDA of timely completion of the transmission line and the grid station.
