Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar on Sunday said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s proposal to overseas Pakistanis for sending foreign remittances through illegal means like ‘Hundi’ and ‘Hawala’ were violation of national and international rules.
In a statement, the minister said Imran Khan was also misleading the overseas Pakistanis, giving them illegal advices to stop sending money through banks. He said the PTI chief also suggested the countrymen abroad to halt sending foreign currency to Pakistan, which was tantamount to damaging the national economy. Ishaq Dar said the civil disobedience call given by the PTI was reflective of the attempt to create anarchy and chaos in the country. It merits mentioning here that in an emotional speech Imran Khan had appealed Pakistan expatriates to send money through Hundi to avoid taxes, but realising his mistake he had taken back his statement after two hours and instead asked the expatriates not to send money to Pakistan for a month.
