RAWALPINDI : A joint seminar on “Capitalising the Benefits of GSP Plus” was organised by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) and Pakistan Institute of Trade and Development (PITAD) here at RCCI on Friday.
President RCCI Asad Mashadi, Director General PITAD Anjum Asad Ameen, Chief Executive Word Trade Advisory Dr Shakoor, Senior Vice President Mian Humayun Pervaz, Vice President Saboor Malik and large number of businessmen attended the seminar.
Addressing the inaugural session President RCCI Asad Mashadi said that Rawalpindi Chamber always taken initiatives for the betterment of business community and keep the businessmen informed about what was happening in the world. He said that basic purpose of today’s seminar was to create awareness about GSP Plus and its requirements among traders and industrialists to get maximum results.
Speaking on the occasion, DG PITAD Anjum Asad Amin has said that RCCI always cooperated with the government in any steps taken for the benefits of the businessmen community. She said that today’s seminar main focus to unveil the conditions which were yet unknown for businessmen.
Later, Chief Executive World Trade Advisory Dr Shakoor while briefing the participants said that GSP Plus status given to those developing countries that had below 2 per cent trade with EU. He said that Pakistan was only focusing textile sector but there was a list of items which could be export to European Union (EU) trade markets under some subsidies. He further said that it was completion for Pakistanis to meet the international standards while exporting their goods to EU.
