Govt committed to promote quality culture

KARACHI - The Government of Pakistan is committed to promote quality culture in the country and therefore, has to take legal actions against all those manufacturers whose products do not meet mandatory national standards. This was expressed by KB Rind during his maiden visit to Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) in the capacity of Federal Secretary for Science and Technology. In this respect, he advised the authority to prosecute defaulters and forward to the Ministry, the amendments to be incorporated into PSQCA Act, 1996 and subordinate rules. The DG, PSQCA, Syed Shams-uz-Zaman Shah apprised the Federal Secretary about the overall mandate, functions and problems of the authority while highlighting the achievements during current financial year. The DG, PSQCA also pointed out the week human resources of the authority and requested Ministry to resolve all problems. The Secretary MoST ensured full support of the Government to the Authority to fulfil its mandatory mandate of promoting quality culture and also emphasised that authority should do sole searching to identify its weaknesses and set a benchmark at par with best models available in the region. Besides, he also emphasised the role of training to improve the issue arising out of globalisation and growing number of barriers.
