SCCI conditionally agrees with energy plan

PESHAWAR (APP) - Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has linked cooperation in energy conservation strategy with the uninterrupted supply of power to the markets from 5:00 P.M to 10:00 P.M. Addressing a meeting held in connections with the implementation of the energy conservation strategy here at Chamber House on Monday. He said that in case of guaranteeing uninterrupted power supply from 5:00 P.M to 10:00 by Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (PESCO), they are ready to close market at 10:00 P.M. Those who attended the meeting were included District Coordination Officer (DCO), Siraj Ahmad Khan, Chief Executive, PESCO, Shahid Mehmood, vice president, SCCI, Zulfikar Ali Khan, Sharafat Ali Mubarak, Shaukat Ali Khan, president, Industrial Estate, Hayatabad, Malik Niaz Ahmad, Assistant Coordination Officer (ACO), Fazal Hussein, Deputy Manager, PESCO, Munirullah, Haji Mohammad Israr, member executive SCCI, Waris Khan Afridi and other trade and industries related people. President, SCCI also called for issuance of notification uninterrupted and equal power supply like SITE Karachi to all industrial estates of the province and implementation of the PMs Relief Package for revival of trade and industrial activities in the province. During the meeting Sarhad Chamber and traders association rejected the decision of the DCO for the closure of the shopping markets at 8:00 P.M and said that the trading community is facing difficulties in carrying business activities due to heavy load shedding and terror incidents. In such a situation, they ruled out the closure of bazaars by 8:00 P.M. However, they said that in case of uninterrupted supply of electricity from 5:00 P.M to 10:00 then they are ready to closure their bazaars by 10:00 P.M. Riaz Arshad complained that despite the passage of 4 months the package announced by the Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani has not implemented nor any notification has been issued so far. He said that the business community is disappointed and frustrated over the delaying tactics in the implementation of the Prime Ministers Relief Package. He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is facing discriminatory attitude and one example is the SITE Industrial Estate, which is exempted of the electricity load shedding. He said that the business community of the province had rendered great sacrifices. DCO Siraj Ahmad Khan and Chief Executive, PESCO, Shahid Mehmood also addressed the meeting and agreed with the recommendations and proposals of the trading community of the province.
