Govt to auction 1, 68,613 acres of railways land: Ahmed Bilour

Minister for Railways, Ghulam Ahmed Bilour on Tuesday informed the Lower House of the Parliament that a total of 1,68,613 acres of railways land have been encroached in various parts of the country. He, however, said that 254.7 acres of encroached land in Karachi and 1124 acre in Lahore have been vacated from the encroachers while efforts are being made to expedite the process to vacate more land from the grabbers. Bilour said that railway's track is 100 years old and efforts are being made to make it double. He said railway track from Lodhran to Sher Shah has been doubled while work on Raiwind to Shahdara double track is in full swing and it will be completed very soon.
