Slovenia to invest in power sector

ISLAMABAD (APP) A 8-member high powered business delegation of Slovenia comprising Executive Director Business Development European Operation, Wagra, Greeshams Eastern Pvt, Vladimir Keran, CEO Turblolstitut and other prominent businessmen visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI). Ziigham Adil Rizvi, Director Project Tawairqui Steel Mills Ltd Pakistan headed the delegation. The delegation was representing areas of power generation, engineering, biomass, textile and education, says a press release. The delegation gave a detailed presentation on the potential business with Slovenia, which a 2 million population country. On hydro projects a detailed presentation was given for joint ventures and investments in Pakistan. The delegation also showed interest for the supply and design of hydro mechanical equipment used in the hydro projects. The delegation gave information about the waste management plant to generate energy through gasification and offered technology support to Pakistan. Mahfooz Elahi President of ICCI welcoming the delegation said that Pakistan was facing huge energy problems and thanked the delegation for visiting Pakistan for investment in the energy sector. He informed that Pakistan has huge potential for the generation of energy but due to lack of technical knows how and less capabilities, Pakistan is still unable to produce energy through biomass and other alternate available resources of energy. He said that Pakistan is under explored country in oil and gas sector and gave information about the energy generation potential through coal in Thar area. Mahfooz Elahi said that ICCI would create linkages of Pakistani companies with Slovenian companies to have beneficial business in the energy sector to address the growing energy needs of Pakistan. The officials of Board of Investment also briefed the delegation about the investment climate and opportunities of investment in different sector, particularly in power sector.
