Tuwairqi Mills sets up relief camps for flood-affectees

KARACHI - Tuwairqi Steel Mills Limited, with donations from its parent companies Al-Tuwairqi Holding of Saudi Arabia and POSCO of South Korea, has set up two major relief camps for the flood-affected people in Badin district, says a press release. The two camps of similar capacity and well-organised facilities have been set up at Badin, and Umerkot. Tuwairqi Steel Mills Limited Director Projects Zaigham Adil Rizvi visited the camp in Badin and ensured that all possible help was being provided to the refugees. The Tuwairqi Steel Mills relief camps have the capacity to house 75 families, and approximately 500 people have been provided shelter so far. The flood-affected families are being provided with secure liveable conditions with three-meals daily including vegetables and clean drinking water, medical facilities with round-the-clock doctors, a school for 30 children equipped with white-board where TSML volunteers teach the children. The relief camps also have a mosque and a unique veterinarian section for the livestock of the families. A generator and solar power have been set up in place to provide electricity as well as power connections across the facility. It is expected that these relief efforts will continue for over a period of one month. Rehabilitation and relocation efforts include providing the affected people with monetary assistance and food-supplies for another month. While expressing his views, Zaigham Adil Rizvi, Director (Projects), TSML said, At this time of crisis, it is the duty of each and every Pakistani to extend a helping hand to those whose lives are devastated by the worst ever flood in the history of Pakistan.
