KARACHI : Renowned and professional bankers, financial experts and educationists relating to banking and financial sector addressed the International Conference on “Trends in Modern Banking” on Saturday, organised by Greenwich University, Karachi.
An official of the institution said that during the two sessions of the Conference 16 speakers, including four speakers on Skype from USA, Canada and Germany, read their research papers and gave presentations on trends in modern banking.
E-banking, corporate and commercial banking, treasury, risk management, retail banking and rapid rise in branchless banking were some of the areas which were discussed during the day-long conference.
The speakers noted that there is a rise in micro finance banking in the country which will help the middle class in the raising of their living standards.
They said that there is an increase in the on-line banking in the urban areas of the country and pointed out that with the adaption of innovative technology banking sector would be flourishing and there are tremendous growth opportunities in the banking sector.
With the recent trends of consolidating the banks financial position by virtue of acqusition and mergers the banking sector share is playing a pivotal role in the country`s economy.
The moot was presided over by Chief Executive Officer of Habib Metro Bank Limited Sirajuddin Aziz.
