KARACHI - Irfan Nadeem, Member Direct Taxes FBR, has said that FBR is developing composite audit software that would ensure the transparency of tax procedure in order to increase the tax net. Addressing the members of S.I.T.E. Association of Industry, he further said that the FBR would achieve its target of collection of Rs1200 billion by the end of this fiscal year, he hoped, and added 'we have to put our efforts to collect Rs499 billion up to June 2009 as FBR has targeted.' He also informed that there would be no extension in the amnesty scheme expiring at the end of this year. He said "we will initiate action after expiry of the deadline set for availing amnesty as we are seized of sufficient information about concealed income and assets". He said that some of the suggestions by Engr M A Jabbar, Chairman SAI, would be appropriately accommodated during budgetary exercise. He also informed the members that any complaint in respect of any tax functionary which was reflection of harassment should be brought to the notice of his office for deterring the reoccurrence of the same by any adventurer in the direct tax wing.
