Moot on bounded labour

LAHORE (PR) - Bounded Labour is a crime against humanity and a firm political will is required to eliminate this crime from Brick Klin Industry and other sectors by enforcing the provisions of Bonded Labour Act 1992 through Independent Labour Inspection Machinery. Speakers expressed these views during a conference titled "Elimination of Bounded Labour" held here at Bakhtiar Labour Hall on Friday. The conference was held under the aegis of "Pakistan Workers Federation (PWF) in collaboration with the Bonded Liberation Front (BLF). PWF General Secretary Khurshid Ahmed, Deputy General Secretary Osama Tariq and BLF representatives" Muhammad Ishaq, Ghulam Rasool, Muhammad Barkat and Rehmat Shah were the keynote speakers on the occasion. ILO Director Donglin while addressing the inaugural session declared that ILO had been straying to eliminate the evil of Bonded Labour with the cooperation of Pakistani govt and employers, workers Organisation and civil society. He said that ILO convention No 29, 105 ratified by the Pakistan government need to be implemented in laws and practice.
