LAHORE - Quaid-i-Azam had declared the electricity, railways, oil & gas and other national enterprises would run in the public sector. The government should learn from the bitter and failed experience of privatization of KESC and not to privatize the national profitable electricity companies— FESCO (Faisalabad) IESCO (Islamabad), LESCO (Lahore), and GEPCO (Gujranwala)—in the wider public interest.
Trade union leader Khurshid Ahmed expressed these views while addressing an Eid Millan Party at Bakhtiar Labour Hall on Monday. All Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Workers Union organized the gathering.
“The government should introduce administrative reforms in electricity companies and raise their productivity instead of handing over all the powers to the private members of board of directors of companies having no investment of single rupee.”
