ISLAMABAD - The 4th Pak-China Business Forum kicked off Friday wherein approximately 130 Chinese and 100 Pakistani companies have participated by displaying products and conducting business-to-business meetings.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Rana Tanveer and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun WeiDong inaugurated the mega forum at Pak China Friendship Center. Addressing the inaugural ceremony the federal minister said that diffusion of knowledge is very important especially for the South Asian region. He stressed on devising national strategies for the human resource development and promotion of science and technology, which are also essential, he added.
The Comsats Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) has organisd this forum, from March 27-30, 2015, to promote university-industry collaborations in business and economic sectors for the mutual benefit of both countries. A huge gathering was witnessed at inaugural session of the forum while more than 150,000 visitors are expected during four days.
Dr SM Junaid Zaidi, Rector CIIT said that the university has introduced an academia driven model of business cooperation by conducting Pak-China Business Forum to promote academia-industry collaboration in business and economic sector for mutual benefit of both the countries.
The forum encompasses project exhibitions, seminars, workshops and industrial academic expo. It will also help promoting thematic areas of new energy technologies, information and communication technologies, water conservation, purification and sanitation and biomedical materials, in consultation with Chinese counterparts. The forum would provide an opportunity for commercialisation of products and processes of the participating organizations.
CIIT introduced Pak China Business Forum in 2012, which was 1st Pak- China Business Forum followed by 2nd and 3rd Pak China Business Forums in 2013 and 2014 respectively. These forums were a complete success during which Chinese and Pakistani companies exhibited their products. This endeavor by CIIT focuses on the promotion of an academic - industry collaboration in business and economic sector for mutual benefit of both the countries, hence further strengthening the ties of geographically bonded countries. The forum will be open for general public from 27th to 30th March.
