Qubee invests over $70m in telecom sector

KARACHI - Internet penetration in Pakistan is growing at an unprecedented rate with broadband penetration forecast to reach 4.3 million people by the end of 2013, said Mubashir Naqvi CEO Qubee. He was addressing a Press conference with Martin Harriman at a local hotel here on Thursday while announcing the launch of Qubee the internet broadband service in Pakistan. Mubashir Naqvi said that it is an incredibly exciting time to be a wireless broadband internet provider in Pakistan where the internet penetration forecast to reach 4.3 million people by the end of 2013. He said that the broadband access is widely recognised as a catalyst for the economic and social development of a country and Pakistan has been named as one of the most dynamic telecoms economies in terms of internet penetration by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development 2010. Qubee is a big part of this and has already invested almost $70 million in Pakistan. The broadband internet market in Pakistan increased by over 150 percent in 2009, he added.
