Microsoft to establish innovation centre in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Microsoft is seriously considering establishing a Microsoft Innovation Centre in Peshawar in collaboration with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Department, it was revealed in a meeting between a Microsoft delegation and officials of the provincial IT board.

The technology giant already has two innovation centres in Pakistan.

Secretary Science and Technology and Information Technology Syed Zafar Ali Shah chaired the meeting while the Microsoft delegation was led by Microsoft Pakistan Country Manager Nadeem Ahmad Malik.

The meeting discussed in detail the opportunities, possibilities and venues of collaboration and cooperation among the Provincial IT Department, Microsoft and K-P IT Board for the promotion of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the province with special focus on e-governance.

The meeting also discussed matters related to collaboration and cooperation with regard to intellectual property rights. It was agreed in the meeting that a road map will be developed for extending support to the youth and private entrepreneurship of the province in the IT sector.
