Dollar gains against rupee




KARACHI - The dollar gained strength against the rupee in the interbank market, dealers said Wednesday.
It started the day’s trading at Rs 89.82 for buying, increased 15 paisas and closed at Rs 89.97 for buying and Rs 90.02 for selling. The European currency witnessed gain against the rupee as it began the day’s trading at Rs 117.42 for buying, moved 17 paisas up and closed at Rs 117.59 for buying and Rs 117.64 for selling.
The British pound raised its value against local currency, it initiated the day’s trading at Rs 140.47 for buying, rose 49 paisas and closed at Rs 140.96 for buying and Rs 141.01 for selling.
In open market the dollar recorded gain against rupee, dealers said.
It began the day’s trading at Rs 89.6 for buying, gained 30 paisas and closed at Rs 89.9 for buying and Rs 90.45 for selling.
The Euro increased its value against local currency as it started the day’s trading at Rs 116.5, went 70 paisas up and closed at Rs 117.2 for buying and Rs 119.2 for selling.
 The British currency witnessed bullish behaviour against the rupee, it initiated the day’s trading at Rs 139.5, increased Re 1 and closed at Rs 140.5 for buying and Rs 141.5 for selling.
