Shahbaz for accelerating Watan Cards distribution

LAHORE - President UBL Atif Rizwan Bukhari met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif at Chief Ministers Secretariat, here on Tuesday. Distribution of Watan cards among the flood victims was considered in detail during the meeting. Provincial Finance Minister, Tanvir Ashraf Kaira, Members Provincial Assembly Hafiz Mian Nauman, Mohsin Latif, Chief Secretary, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Secretary Home, IGP, DG Provincial Disaster Management Authority and officers concerned were present. The CM said that the worst-ever flood in the history of the country has caused unprecedented damage and people have lost their life-long savings. He said that Punjab govt is implementing a comprehensive programme for the relief and rehabilitation of flood victims and relief assistance is being provided to the flood affectees through Watan cards in a transparent manner. He said that there is a need for accelerating distribution of Watan cards to mitigate the problems of the calamity-stricken people. He said that UBL should increase its capacity of provision of Watan cards and the target of providing 20,000 cards on September 30th and 25,000 cards daily from the next 3 to four days should be achieved. UBL President Atif Rizwan Bukhari informed that 21,000 cards were provided by the Bank today while every effort will be made for the provision of maximum cards.
