Koreans keen to invest in power sector

Our Staff Reporter KARACHI - Korean Company KOSPO & Hyundai expressed its willingness to investment in 2,000MW power project in a time period of five years. The offer was made by seven-member delegation of Korean Southern Power Company Ltd (KOSPO) & Hyundai during their meeting with Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Investment Zubair Motiwala at latters office on Friday. The delegation led by General Manager KOSPO & Hyundai, Jin Han Chong. According to official statement, the KOSPO officials informed the advisor that company already generating 9,238 MWs electricity in Korea with a cost of $5 million. Beside, the company has also make investment to generate electricity in UAE, Jordon, Bulgaria and other countries, they briefed. They informed that 13 percent electricity has been generated from coal, LNG, Oil and wind power in Korea. The representative of Hyundai Corporation told Advisor that company has interested to install wind turbine in Pakistan which will help to get power through wind energy. He informed the participants that Korea is manufacturing wind turbine which will generate 2MW electricity. The Korean delegation also showed interest in generation of electricity through coal energy. The delegation was briefed about the Thar Coal Project prepared by Thar Coal & Energy Board. The CM advisor assured Korean delegate for their cooperation in the instalment of power plant according to the investment policy of present government.
