RAWALPINDI - The second Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Conference 2012 was organized by Attock Refinery Limited (ARL) at Morgah Club here on Thursday.
Besides imminent speakers and participants from widely diverse fields, ARL Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Muhammad Adil Khattak and ARL Head (Operations) Ejaz Hussain Randhawa Head (Operations) attended the event.
In his opening address, ARL CEO Muhammad Adil Khattak highlighted significance of HSE in today’s business environment and importance of sharing best business practices and learning from experiences of each others for a safer future. He said that organizing such knowledge sharing events was in line with ARL’s core value of “Learning and Innovation’ and ARL plans to make HSE conference an annual event.
Khattak said that the challenges we all faced in managing facilities were neither new nor unique. Many of the failures, which had led to serious accidents, when analyzed, were repeats of similar failures in the past and therefore, a problem of loss of corporate memory. He said that all of us were facing similar challenges faced in our diverse sectors i.e.
Increasingly ageing facilities some well beyond originally expected operating life; skills shortages in key trades and professions; cost and production pressures; balancing varied and often conflicting priorities etc.
“ARL is also proud recipient of many national and international awards in HSE, including WWF/ACCA’s Best Sustainability Report Award for three consecutive years, ECO’s Green Industry Award 2011, UN Global Compact Award and the prestigious RoSPA’s Gold Award 2012 for Occupational Health & Safety” CEO informed.
