ISLAMABAD - Zafar Bakhtawari took oath as new president, Mehmood Ahmed Warraich and Saeed Ahmed Bhatti as senior vice president and vice president respectively in annual general meeting (AGM) of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
Founder Group Chairman Tariq Sadiq administered oath to the newly elected office bearers and executive members of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry for the year 2012-13.
After taking oath, Zafar Bakhtawari, newly elected president ICCI, unfolded his vision to promote the interests of business community. He said that construction of ICCI Export Display Centre, new Industrial Estate in Islamabad, resolving CDA related issues of businessmen etc. would be his top agenda. He said businessmen play an important role in the development of national economy by promoting business, creating jobs and paying taxes. Therefore, they should be given due representation in government decision-making bodies for formulating business friendly economic policies and to recognize their role.
He thanked the Founder Group for posing confidence in him and electing him as president ICCI and assured that he would put in his best efforts for safeguarding the interests of businessmen and for promoting ICCI.
Outgoing President ICCI Yassar Sakhi Butt congratulated the new office-bearers and hoped that they would continue to work for the rights of traders and industrialists. He also highlighted the accomplishments achieved in his tenure and said that in his tenure ICCI took many initiatives to promote young entrepreneurs.
Tariq Sadiq, Chairman Founder Group, said that ICCI has always served the cause of small traders and highlighted their issues at all relevant forums, which shows that ICCI is a true representative of all traders. He congratulated the ICCI’s newly elected office barriers and executive members and expressed hope that they would take ICCI to new heights of success by working with the spirit, dedication and commitment.
Munawar Mughal, former president, said that the group had been winning ICCI elections for the last several years which showed its commitment to serve the business community. He said Founder Group has been following the principals of unity and its motto is to serve the business community in a better way.
