ISLAMABAD (PPI) - Federal minister for Food & Agriculture, Nazar M Gondal has asked the American investors to focus their investments in the agriculture sector in such a way that yield maximum results and help the country in achieving self sufficiency in all agriculture produces. The minister said it while talking to a delegation of an American firm, Frontier Agriculture Solutions and Training (FAST) (Pvt) Limited, led by its CEO Rob Holmes. We want transfer of the agricultural technology into Pakistan so that we are empowered to bring modernity in our agricultural practices. Cold storage, tunnel farming and high efficiency irrigation systems are the potential areas for your investment. We would protect your investments and assure you of profitable results from investing in the sector, added the minister. Gondal said, We are grateful to you for investing in the country at a critical point in time that would definitely help us in many ways. He further said that the agriculture sector of the country offers huge potential and with the help of the American company, positive outcomes are definite. Rob Holmes said that his organization specializes in technology, training and management for the improvement and modernization of agriculture. He said that they are presently doing business in Turkey, China and Iraq. Holmes added that they are running a Demonstration Farm in Lahore where they conduct Training Courses for the farmers as well. We want to collaborate with the federal/provincial government and the private sector for investment in the agriculture sector, said the CEO. The federal minister assured the 4-member delegation of maximum support and facilitation from the governments side. He said that he would personally visit the Demonstration Farm this weekend and would then issue instructions for collaboration with the firm. FAST is operational in Pakistan for the last five months and some of its activities are funded by USAID as well. The meeting was also attended by the officials of the ministry.
