ICAP holds pre-budget seminar

karachi - The Southern Regional Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) organized the pre-budget seminar 2014-15.
A statement here on Sunday said that the moot was attended by around 250 participants comprising of both members, including the past presidents, and non-members. Adnan Rizvi, Convener of the organizing committee gave a brief background of holding the seminar. Later, Naeem Akhtar Sheikh, President of the ICAP and Chairman ICAP Taxation Committee, presented his opening remarks. He gave a broad perspective regarding the objectives of holding the pre-budget seminar and the expectations which the ICAP has from the budget makers especially the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). He also highlighted certain measures which should be considered by the FBR immediately in order to achieve its objective of enhancing the revenue base.
Shaikh Saqib Masood, the Past President of ICAP and Member ICAP Taxation Committee, delivered the key note speech.
He gave a detailed presentation primarily covering the proposals of the ICAP Taxation Committee for the upcoming budget. The chief guest Shahid Hussain Asad, Member Inland Revenue, Policy FBR, delivered his concluding remarks. He addressed the key issues raised during the entire proceedings and invited the representatives of ICAP to visit FBR in order to sit down with their representatives and discuss each proposal of ICAP Taxation Committee in detail to try and find a mutually acceptable solution. The programme concluded with distribution of mementos to the speaker, the panelists, the moderator and the chief guest.
