Rs 452m supplementary grant for four districts


LAHORE - The Punjab government has approved Rs 452 million as supplementary grant for four districts of the province, TheNation has learnt on Thursday.
Sources confided that district governments of T T Singh, Jhelum, Chakwal and Gujrat had asked for more funds for the completion of ongoing schemes as their kitty fell short of finances. It was feared that ongoing projects in the districts concerned could face inverse affects otherwise. The finance department approved the said money as a supplementary grant just prior to coming of the new budget 2013-14. Talking about details, district Toba Tek Singh was granted Rs 144 million, district Gujrat got Rs 115 million, district Jhelum Rs 102 million while district Chakwal Rs 91 million.
Last year in 2012-13 budget the district governments were allocated Rs187 billion as a single line transfer. TMAs received Rs17 billion, up from Rs15.6 billion in the ongoing budget. Similarly, union administrations received Rs6 billion, up from Rs5 billion in the ongoing budget.
