ISLAMABAD - The Ambassador of Romania, Emilian Ion hosted a dinner in honour of Zafar Bakhtawari on his election as president of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) at his residence in Islamabad.Various ambassadors including Ambassador of Argentina and Dean of diplomatic corps in Pakistan, Rodolfo J Martin Saravia, Ambassador of EU, Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, Ambassador of Greece, Petros Mavroidis, Ambassador of Turkey, Mustafa Babur Hizlan, Ambassador of Czech Republic, Miraslav Krenck, Ambassador of Poland, Andrezej Ananicz, Ambassador of Morocco, Mohammed Rida El-Fassi, Ambassador of Cuba, Jesus Zenen Buergo Concepcion, Ambassador of Italy, Adriano Chiodi Chianfarami, Ambassador of Tunisia, Mourad Bourehla and Ambassador of Bulgaria, Roumen Pirontchev were also present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, Emilian Ion, Romanian Ambassador, said that Zafar Bakhtawari is very close friend of diplomatic community and expressed hope that he would help build relations with the diplomatic corps to enhance Pakistan’s trade and economic relations with countries around the globe. He said that the business communities of Pakistan and Romania have to play a vital role for the promotion of bilateral trade and their greater mutual interaction is needed to achieve the ultimate objectives.Zafar Bakhtawari said that he is involved with the diplomatic community since 30 years and it is very honourable for him to improve the image of Pakistan in the new capacity as President of ICCI. ICCI President said that Pakistan and Romania need to focus on economic and cultural activities in order to enhance cooperation between the business communities of the two countries.He was of the view that the role of the diplomatic community could not be ruled out as it played a very important part in defining the direction of a country. Therefore its time that the diplomatic community should come forward and play its role in changing the perception about Pakistan in their respective countries which would definitely help Pakistan in coming out of this current crisis, he maintained.Ambassador of Argentina, Rodolfo J Martin Saravia also lauded the dynamic role of Zafar Bakhtawari for maintaining good liaison with diplomatic community. He was of the view that appointment of Bakhtawari as president of ICCI would further enhance the relationship of business community with diplomatic circle which would ultimately put a positive image of Pakistan in all over the world.Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Tariq Mehmood Pirzada, Additional Secretary President House, Asif Durani, Director General Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Faiz, former presidents of ICCI, Abdul Rauf, Munawar Mughal, Zubair Ahmed Malik, Zahid Maqbool and Yassar Sakhi Butt also attended the event.
