a difference of opinion

A: What is happening to the Muslims in Burma is appalling. Killing someone just because of a difference in religion.
S: True. Religion has become an unfortunate phenomenon, one that has given legitimacy to massacring thousands of innocent lives.
A: Religion is supposed to teach you tolerance. It is a sacred bond between you and the Almighty. Killing another human being is breaking that oath.
S: The same one that Muslims are using to make sure that every person conforms to their religion? I believe that they have used this claim the most. In our country itself, we have made sure that no other interpretation of Islam sees the light of day.
A: Then those people do not follow the true essence of what religion is.What is frightening is to see Buddhist monks murdering innocent lives, when the principle of non-violence is arguably more central to Buddhism than any other major religion. Why are they using hate speech against Muslims and joining mobs that have left dozens dead?
S: I feel like you have answered your own question. Even a religion, that is preaching peace, cannot be a basis of saying that it is actually a tolerant religion. It is the people that have destroyed it. We are killing Ahmedi’s and Shias and any other sect that we feel is not what the true picture of Islam is. How are we exactly merciful?
