Throughout his life, man is subject to different institutions. Social, Academic, Political, and Economic; all of them play a crucial role in shaping one’s character. Unfortunately, Pakistanis are often provided with failing ones.
The state of academic institutions today has also developed a repressive environment for the students. The majority of the professors suppress free and critical thinking which impedes intellectual development and prevents any exchange of ideas among the students. The absence of student unions, or other legitimate student organisations, means that the interests of the students have little to no channels.
An antagonistic conditioning such as this, is not only damaging the future of individuals, but also of the entire nation.
“A state which dwarfs its men, in order that they may be more docile instruments in its hands even for beneficial purposes—will find that with small men no great thing can really be accomplished.”
–John Stuart Mill
