The current government’s tenure has been marked by abject failure evident among others, in how it has over the years disabled the average man from even having the simplest diet. Newspapers are flooded with reports of suicides by those fighting the struggle of making ends meet. In these harrowing circumstances surrounding the people, it is quite pinching that the leaders keep boasting about the “miracles” they have performed. Now at a time when it should have been trying to fulfil some of the promises about poverty alleviation, it has dealt a fatal blow on the masses — in fact targeting the segment most vulnerable to inflation — by raising the flour prices substantially. Apart from pushing prices of bread, nan and other food items up to a new high, the move, coupled with the fuel surcharge would force the inflationary spiral to its very limits.
