AI in Kashmir

A team of Amnesty International on a visit to the Indian-occupied Valley met with Hurriyet leaders, including Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and was informed about the ongoing atrocities. Whether it is Amnesty International, or anyone else, the best they can do to end this reign of terror is to raise their voice about the need to implement the relevant UNSC resolutions.
Despite that attempt to erase these resolutions from collective memory, so crucial to the world and South Asia’s peace, the issue has not died down, thanks to the valiant Kashmiris. The indefatigable courage of the people who have been resilient in their struggle of ousting the occupation forces will not bow into submission at this stage when they have sacrificed over a hundred thousand of their own. For them, there is no turning back. This is arguably the main factor that would lead them to achieve their goal by wresting their right of self-determination accorded to them under a framework of a free and fair plebiscite. Indian forces ruling over Kashmiris for decades have failed to make any headway in making the people compromise on their basic demand for breaking free from its grip. The only option available with New Delhi is to unconditionally pull out forces and let the UN conduct a plebiscite.
