Take action against TTP

Ambassador Sherry Rehman has handed over a list of TTP insurgents to the US demanding that action be taken against them. The very presence of these groups in Afghanistan is troubling but what is worse is the freedom with which they are launching attacks against Pakistan almost as if they had the backing of Kabul. If Nato is to escape the inevitable criticism that it has been selective in fighting terrorism, it must act against the list presented by the Ambassador. While Pakistan expends every effort in fighting a war, which even the US acknowledges has cost more Pakistani than US lives, the fact that Pakistan’s safety is not safeguarded by those in Afghanistan has been a matter of grave concern and disappointment.Nato’s knowledge of the cross border attacks are largely led by militants of Maulana Fazullah is further exasperating, as the Maulana and his troops continue to target Pakistani checkposts along the Durand Line and loudly and proudly claim responsibility for them. Its commitment to its war time ally Pakistan, necessitates that the US must take on these groups in the larger interest of peace in both countries.
