PTI failed to provide evidence: Marriyum

ISLAMABAD = Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Wednesday said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had failed to provide evidence regarding Panama leaks in the Supreme Court.

Talking to media persons outside the Supreme Court after the hearing of Panama gate, she said PM Sharif has submitted answers of all the questions in the apex court.

The minister said that the PML-N had complete confidence in the Supreme Court over Panama Papers' case.

She said that the PTI was still relying on newspaper clippings as evidence in the court.

Aurangzeb said the change of lawyers did not make any case strong and PM Sharif had always emerged victorious through all accountability tests so far. She said the public was well aware about the progress and development during Nawaz Sharif-era and the federal government was implementing the development projects whereas the PTI had failed to deliver in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Aurangzeb suggested to the PTI chief Imran Khan to focus on the development of K-P instead of just staying in Bani Gala. She said that the PTI always misguided the people on national issues and did not speak truth about the real situation. Aurangzeb said that the people of the country would again elect Nawaz Sharif in the 2018 elections because of the development.

She said that the PM Sharif was the only leader who played the role for the better future of Pakistan. The minister said that the ruling party only worked for the betterment of country and took several steps in that regard during the last year.    Later, while addressing a news conference along with PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz here yesterday evening, she said that the government had put the country on the path to progress and development.

Aurangzeb said that continuity of polices were imperative for development in the country.

She said that those creating hurdles in the path of progress and development would not succeed in their designs.

Aziz said that Imran Khan could not continue to fool the people of the country with his false statements.

He said Imran Khan should avoid creating hurdles in development of the country.

Aziz said that the PML-N fulfilled its promises and launched several development projects in different areas of the country.

He advised Imran Khan to serve the people who voted for him in the last election.

During visit to the National Press Club yesterday Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the government believed in freedom of expression.

She said that freedom of expression was imperative to take the society forward.

Aurangzeb said that it was the responsibility of the media to follow the code of conduct and media organisations should also define their own code of conducts.

The minister of state said that under the directives of the prime minister legislation was underway for the safety and security of the journalists.

She said the draft of the bill would be sent to the media houses for their input to make it more comprehensive. 

The minister said that an endowment fund would be set up for the welfare of the journalists.

She said the government was also focusing on the training of the journalists.

The minister said that all the available resources would be used for the training of the journalists.
