ISLAMABAD- Legal community has urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Nasir-ul-Mualk, to take suo moto notice of brutal torture and shelling of police on the innocent children and women. In this regard, the community announced on Sunday that lawyers across the country will observe complete strike on the call of Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) and Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) on Monday (today) and will not appear before the court to protest against the brutal incident.
Talking to The Nation, Chaudhary Khalid Hussain Advocate, media coordinator of Islamabad Bar Association (IBA), said that legal fraternity would completely boycott the court proceedings to register their protest against the police torture on innocent people. He informed that the community has also urged the CJP Justice Nasir to take suo moto notice of the incident. He added that the lawyers fully condemned police action in which they resorted to firing, shelling and baton charge against the protestors in the federal capital.
Khalid also said that in this connection the lawyers also strongly condemned police brutality against the media persons who were performing their duties when police targeted them and tortured inhumanely.
