IHC objects to plea challenging special court for Musharraf trial

ISLAMABAD  - Registrar Office Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday raised objections over the petition challenging the notification of special court established by the government to initiate trial against former President Pervez Musharraf for high treason case under Article 6.
A local lawyer Riaz Hanif Rahi moved the court through his petition and challenged the special court for the trail of former president. However, Registrar office of IHC raised objections that the petitioner is not aggrieved person in this particular case.
On the other hand, panel of lawyers constituted by Musharraf to defend himself in the case dissociated itself from this petition. Talking to The Nation, Advocate Ilyas Siddiqui, member of Musharraf’s panel of lawyers, expressed his indifference towards the petition.
Siddiqui was of the view that it is more likely that the court would dismiss the petition by terming it as non-maintainable since the petitioner is not aggrieved person.
He also said that it seemed that someone had tried to make mischief by filing the petition to spoil the case.
