RMC convocation: 551 graduates get degrees

Rawalpindi - The 11th convocation of Rawalpindi Medical College held at the Latif Auditorium, Tippu Road Campus here on Saturday.
A total of 551 medical graduates of session 2012-13 have been awarded with degrees, medals and other commendatory certificates.
On the occasion, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal was the chief guest whereas Chairman Board of Management Allied Hospitals Dr Muhammad Aslam, Vice Chancellor University of Health Sciences Maj. Gen (Retd) Muhammad Aslam, RMC Principal Prof. Dr Muhammad Umar, senior faculty heads Prof. Rizwana Chaudhry, Prof. Muhammad Shoaib Shafi, Prof. Muhammad Aslam, Prof. Rai Muhammad Asghar, Prof. Sheikh Riaz Ahmed, Prof. Fehmida Shaheen, Prof. Farid Minhas, Prof. Muhammad Idrees, Prof. Atifa Shoaib, Prof. Shugufta Sial, Prof. Jahangir Sarwar Khan, Prof. Ali Raza, Prof. Matti Ullah and Prof. Arif Malik were also present.
Addressing the convocation, Ahsan Iqbal, the federal minister, said the youth were the shining future of Pakistan and their excel in field of education was appreciable. He said that the Punjab government took solid steps for promotion of education in the province and that was why the students earned good names in international comity in the fields of medical, engineering and IT.
“In 2015, Pakistan will be among world’s top 50 economies whereas in 2047 the country will be among top 10 economically strengthened countries,” he said, adding that the Chinese $46 billion investment in Pakistan would be fruitful. He said that the country was passing through critical phase while the educated youth could steer the country out of crises. “We are facing a lot of challenges and the youth can help us tackling the challenges,” Ahsan Iqbal said.
He said that 42 per cent children were facing food shortage owing to which their abilities were damaging badly. He said that people were facing also shortage of potable water and suffering with lethal deceases like hepatitis C and B in absence of clean water. He urged the doctors to play their vital role to provide adequate health facilities to public.
Dr Muhammad Aslam, Chairman BoG, RMC was the best colleges and its students have been serving the humanity. He also congratulated the prize winners and degree holder students. VC UHC Maj. Gen (Retd) Muhammad Aslam said that the doctors should serve the humanity with core of hearts. RMC Principal Prof. Dr Muhammad Umar, speaking on the occasion, said that he was struggling hard to improve the education system of RMC.
He said that besides this billion of rupees have been allocated to uplift Allied Hospitals where thousands of patients have been getting medical facilities. Dr Isra Munir and Dr Saad Saleem were declared session 2012 best graduates while Dr Asma Tameezuddin and Dr Muhammad Sarfraz excelled in session 2013.
