Musharraf challenges arrest warrants

ISLAMABAD  - Former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf Friday moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and challenged the issuance of non-bailable arrest warrants issued against him by a local court. Musharraf filed the petition through his counsel Advocate Malik Tahir Mehmood and challenged his arrest warrants in Ghazi Abdul Rasheed murder case while he made state and Ghazi Haroon Rasheed as respondents in this matter.
On April 02, a trial court of Islamabad had issued non-bailable arrest warrants against Pervez Musharraf with confiscation of his surety bonds while hearing in the alleged murder case of Abdul Rasheed Ghazi, former cleric of the Lal Masjid, and his mother Sahiba Khatoon. The former president contended in his petition that a medical board is examining his client's health condition and he is willing to appear before the trial court but it is not possible due to his health conditions.
In the petition, it has been mentioned that local court had issued arrest warrants of Pervez Musharraf without considering his medical reports. Therefore, he prayed to the court to cancel his warrants of arrest and also release his confiscated surety bonds amounting 100,000 rupees.
The petition is yet to be fixed before an IHC bench for hearing.
