MUZAFFARGARH - Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday asked the flood victims not to consider themselves alone, saying that the government was standing shoulder to shoulder with them in the difficult time and would remain with them till their rehabilitation.
He was briefed about the flood situation and the rescue and the relief operation by concerned authorities. Talking to the flood victims during his visit to Seetpur Chaner Band in tehsil Alipur of Muzaffargarh district, he said the provincial government believed in serving the flood hit people without any discrimination.
He ordered the district administration and officials of all the departments concerned to participate wholeheartedly in the flood relief and rehabilitation activities. The negligent will face a stern action, he warned. He ordered Dera Ghazi Khan Commissioner Chaudhry Muhammad Amin and DCO Farasat Iqbal Chaudhry to oversee the relief work to cover maximum number of affected people. Administration, Rescue-1122 and other departments concerned were on board for this purpose, he added.
Mr Sharif said that a programme had been chalked out to strengthen protective embankment for the safety of the masses. He interacted with the flood victims and assured them of his full support in this regard. The chief minister also travelled by boat to meet flood hit people near Chander Band. He talked to a many affected people who informed him about their problems. Shahbaz Sharif sympathised with them and promised all possible assistance. MNA Ashiq Khan, former tehsil nazim Khazir Khan, MPA Amar Talal, RPO Akhtar Umer Hayat Lalika and DPO Rana Abdul Jabbar were present.
