Caretaker Interior Minister Malik Habib held meeting with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement leaders at party’s headquarter Nine Zero here on Sunday and discussed law and order situation.
MQM leaders Dr Farooq Sattar, Dr Sagheer Ahmed, Nabeel Gabool and others welcomed the minister.
During the meeting, law and order situation of the city and repeated terror attacks on the MQM and other political parties came under discussion.
Addressing a news conference along with the MQM leaders, Malik said that terrorists wanted to sabotage the electoral process through their attacks on the political parties. He said the interim government needed support from all political parties including the MQM in connection with taking part in the general elections. He said the interim government has grave concerns over the Karachi situation. “Without any delay, I have reached here to analyse the situation and a high-level meeting will be held in Karachi on Monday (today) to review security arrangements.” Malik said, “We should not use the name of Urdu-speaking, as we all are Pakistanis and the masses could bring revolution through ballots.”
To a question about the performance of the interim government, Habib said, “We are satisfied with our performance, as we have performed well in the given capacity and want all the political segments of the country to support us in holding the upcoming polls in a peaceful atmosphere.” On the occasion, Sattar said the MQM has given a detailed picture to the minister regarding law and order situation of the city. He hoped the minister would play a result-oriented role in stopping the ongoing terror attacks on various political parties.
Meanwhile, Habib called on Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad at the Governor House and discussed the City’s law and order situation.
