Talks with Taliban only way to restore peace in country, says Sami

LAHORE - Demanding immediate resumption of peace negotiations with the TTP, chief of own faction of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Maulana Sami ul Haq has said that talks with the Taliban are the only way to restore peace in Pakistan.
He said that the recent drone attacks are result of suspension of peace talks.
Addressing a Press conference here at at Jamia Masjid Kubra, New Samanabad on Thursday, he said that the US knew that talks had been suspended that’s why it had restarted drone attacks in Pakistan’s territory.
He urged the government to resume peace talks with the TTP immediately.
He said if the government did not want to include them in peace talks, they did not have any problem and they would support the talks in any case. He said after April 23, they did not have any contact with the government regarding the talks with the TTP.  He said if any force was stopping the government from holding talks, the Prime Minister should take them (JUI-F) into the confidence.
He reiterated that the Taliban accepted the Constitution of Pakistan and also democracy and they were still waiting for talks.  He said the unannounced operation in Waziristan had been launched.
He said that he still opposed the operation.  He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif always talked about the negotiations and he (Sami) paved the ways for the talks and got the Taliban agreed on negotiations by bringing them to the negotiating table.
He said they suggested resuming talks without delay of a single moment as talks were the only way for establishing peace in the country.
Condemning the recent terrorist attacks in Karachi and Taftan, Maulana Samiul Haq said that the foreign forces including India were involved in these attacks. He condemned both the incidents.
Maulana Sami ul Haq is on three-day visit to Lahore for intra-party elections which were held on Thursday at at Jamia Masjid Kubra, New Samanabad under the supervision of Maulana Yousaf Shah.
Meanwhile, Maulana Sami ul Haq has been elected as Ameer of its own faction of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam for next three years during intra party elections at Jamia Masjid Kubra, New Samanabad here.
Maulana Abdur Raof Farooq has been elected as party General Secretary though secret balloting while party’s Punjab General Council elected Maulana Mufti Habeeb ur Rehman Darkhawsti as provincial Ameer and Maulana Mufti Khalid Mehmood as provincial General Secretary.
On the occasion, Maulana Sami ul Haq also present party’s agenda for next three years. The agenda includes; promotion of ideological politics, efforts for stability of the country, efforts for making country an Islamic welfare State by eliminating poverty, unemployment and corruption.  On the occasion, many resolutions were passed.
The JUI-S decided to take part for rehabilitation of the IDPs. It also asked the provincial government to do efforts for rehabilitation of the IDPs.
During the meeting, JUI-S demanded of the government to unveil the foreign hands involved in the terrorist attacks in Karachi and Taftan.
