Amna Janjua submits witnesses list

Missing persons case

ISLAMABAD  - As the Supreme Court is resuming the hearing of the case about the enforced disappearance of her husband today, Amna Masood Janjua on Thursday submitted a list of six military officers including one former Attorney General for Pakistan for cross examining them in the matter related to the alleged enforced disappearance of her husband Masood Janjua.
Chairperson Defence of Human Right Amna Masood Janjua has submitted a list of military and intelligence persons to be cross examined, who have already filed their statements regarding Masood Janjua abducted since July 39, 2005.
The names of the military and spy agencies' officers are Col. Jehangir Akhtar, Col, Habibullah, Brig Mansoor Saeed Shiekh, Lt-Gen Nusrat Naeem, Lt Gen Shafqaat Ahemd and Lt Gen Nadeem Taj.
Amna has also included the name of former AGP Malik Abdul Qayyum for cross-examination in her husband's case.
She has attached the statement of Dr. Imran Munir, which was given by him on oath under section 161 before the Joint Investigation Team constituted by the Ministry of Interior and the Commission of Inquiry for Enforced Disappearance. Amna also submitted Imran Munir's hand written diary notes of 2007 regarding Masood Janjua being with him in detention facility located in Westridge.
Amna contended that after this high level concrete material evidence there remains no need to present any further proof whatsoever regarding presence of Masood Janjua in the hands of government agencies. "The statement of Dr Imran Munir was given in front of high level government functionaries hence there is no need to obtain the statement of Dr Imran Munir once again," she further stated. She has prayed the SC to prosecute the culprits who had tried to cheat the court by producing a fake affidavit and also accept the statement of Dr Imran Munir given to the JIT once and for all.
Chairperson Defence of Human Right also requested the court to declare the statement of Gen Nusrat Naeem as false and not viable and also order the immediate release of her husband Masood Ahmed Janjua and his friend Faisal Faraz.
It is worth mentioning here that the court on Wednesday had sought a list of officers of the intelligence agencies for cross-examination in the Masood Janjua case.
