Rawalpindi - The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Rawalpindi yesterday announced results of secondary school certificate (SSC) annual examination 2016.
A ceremony was held at Government Postgraduate College, Satellite Town, to award the toppers. Provincial Minister for Labour and Manpower Raja Ashfaq Sarwar was the chief guest on the occasion while Chairman BISE Dr Zareef, Secretary Rana Javed, controller examination, media manager Arslan Cheema, MPAs Raja Hanif Advocate Zaibun Nisa and Tehseen Fawad, ex-MPA Sardar Nasim, Chairman Green Task Force Dr Jamal Nasir, Rahat Qudusi, position holder students and their parents and teachers were also present.
The chief guest distributed gold medals, certificates and cash prizes among the position holder students.
Addressing the ceremony, Punjab Minister for Labour and Manpower Raja Ashfaq Sarwar urged the students to excel in education for the prosperity of the country and the welfare of the nation. He said that there was a need that all the political parties to come forward and play their positive role for betterment of country instead to involve in blame game.
He informed the students about the development work done by the PML-N-led government and said that the government was working to complete China-Pakistan Economic Corridor to bring more investment in the country and end the unemployment.
The minister expressed hope that the country would not get the foreign loans and instead, it would give loans to other nations. “But for all the benefits will get when all the political parties are on one page,” he said.
He said that the government was working to improve the health and education sectors and introduce merit in the institutions so that the people would get education and health facilities without any hurdle.
The minister urged the students to work hard in science and technology as the country was in dire need to improve the science and technology sectors. He said that hard work in these subjects would enable the country to come on the top in the world.
Though the top positions were announced on Tuesday evening by the BISE, however, the formal announcement of the overall result was announced on Wednesday at Government Post Graduate College, Satellite Town.
According to results, Saqib Javaid, roll number 826497 from Cadet College Choh Saidan Shah stood first by taking 1070/1100 marks. The second position with 1069 marks is shared by Seemabia Sahar, roll number 805977 from Fauji Foundation Girls High School Jand, and Muhammad Sameed, roll number 810982 from Cadet College Hassanabadad.
As far as third position is concerned, two students got 1028 marks each. The position was shared by Mohammad Abubakr, roll number 887491 from Siddeeq Public School Rawalpindi and by Zain Ali, roll number 810984 from Cadet College Hassanabdal.
As many as 123,359 students applied for the SSC examination for 2016 with 67,417 boys and 55,942 girls. In total 87,024 students got successful in the examination.
The number of passing male students stood 44,734 and total 42,290 female candidates remained successful. The passing ratio in total was 71.35 percent. The success ratio among boys remained 67.13 and among girls 76.49.
The total number of regular students appearing in the SSC 2016 examination was 87,113 whereas the total number of private students was 36,246.
The examination authorities prepared in total nine cases of unfair means and all cases were prepared against male students.
Quratulain daughter of Waqar Ahmed, roll number 863714 from Radiant Public School Rawalpindi, got 1,063 marks. She stood third among girls in general science group. The girl is handicapped with physical problem in her back.
