ISLAMABAD  -  Islamabad police seem using delaying tactics to register first information report (FIR) against former President Pervez Musharraf, as law enforcers are waiting for opinion from its legal branch in this regard.
"We are serious to register a case against former President Pervez Musharraf for killing Allama Abdur Rashid Ghazi and his mother during the Lal Masjid operation. However, we can't move ahead until we receive legal advice from our legal branch," Qasim Niazi, Station House Officer of Aabpara Police Station told The Nation on Monday.
Earlier, Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed Islamabad police to register a case against Musharraf in this regard.
Interestingly, the Station House Officer of Aabpara police station is not the final authority to implement court's orders. Rather, he is bound to get directions from his higher authorities to move ahead, The Nation has learnt.
According to information gathered by this correspondent, SHO Aabpara has recorded statement of deceased's son and sent the case to the legal branch for getting legal advice in this regard.
Despite passage of 11 days, he is yet to hear from bosses either to register the case against former military chief or not.
Sources privy to the information told The Nation that matter was pending with the authorities of Legal Advice Branch who are yet to respond to the SHO concerned.
Earlier it was alleged that the SHO of the concerned police station was using delaying tactics and according to him his hands were tied and he could not register a case without orders from his seniors.
Sources said that high-ups of Islamabad police were waiting for newly appointed Inspector General of Islamabad Police Sikander Hayat to take charge and decide himself about the issue.
