Police van bombed

QUETTA - A man was wounded in a hand grenade attack in Bolan district, while in another violence incident in Balochistan province a police van was bombed in Quetta district, officials said on Saturday.
Unidentified attackers tossed a hand grenade into the house of a retired deputy superintendent of police in Machh town, some 60 kilometers southeast of Quetta, wounding Kaleemullah’s son Samiullah.
The grenade, which went off with a huge bang, shattered the windowpanes. A police party rushed and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment. He was later referred to a hospital in Quetta.
Meanwhile, an improvised explosive planted by the side of Qambrani Road in Quetta targeted a police van. The explosion wrecked the vehicle, but luckily no loss of life was reported. A police team and other law enforcement agencies rushed and cordoned off the area. They also took some suspects into custody for interrogation. Police officials suspected Baloch militants could be behind both the attacks.
