ACE arrests revenue officer on charges of taking bribe

RAWALPINDI - The Anti Corruption Department (ACE) Rawalpindi held a Patwari (revenue officer) on charges of taking bribe from a citizen here on Tuesday.
The accused RO was identified as Iftikhar Ali against whom ACD filed a case and started investigation.
A citizen Malik Muhammad Younis, resident of Quaid-e-Azam Colony, lodged a complaint with ACD Director Chaudhry Zulfiqar that he went in the office of a revenue officer to get documents of his land where Patwari Iftikhar Ali demanded Rs1,20,000 as bribe for issuance of the document which he (the complainant) paid.
He said that he again contacted the said Patwari for entry of mutation regarding registered sale deed who demanded Rs10,000. “However, after bargaining, the Patwari aggress on Rs5,000,” he said.
The complainant said he was not inclined to pay the amount but he forced to do so.
The director asked the circle officer headquarters to conduct a raid under the supervision of magistrate to arrest the Patwari.
The team raided and recovered tainted currency notes of Rs5,000 and Rs55,000 from the possession of revenue official and arrested him on the spot.
The ACD officials told that the provincial government has introduced online land record system to minimize people’s complaint regarding Revenue Department.
He encouraged the people to register their complaints at ACE so that legal action should be taken against accused.
